Vocational draughtsman, Josep Maria Prim began his career in 1924, when he published several illustrations in "El Autonomista" of Girona. The following year he made several linocuts to illustrate the book "L'estàtua de la dansarina" by J. Rodríguez Grahit. He then studied woodcut and painting in Barcelona. He has several exhibitions in Barcelona, where he participates in the Salón de Primavera on several occasions, and in the United States. Related to the group Destino, he illustrated the "Álbum de habaneras" of N. Luján and X. Montsalvatge, among other projects. He also worked as a muralist, and was especially appreciated for his landscapes and seascapes, which he captured in a Fauvist style with a fleeting and light atmosphere. Josep Maria Prim Guytó is currently represented at the Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona.
