The strong backlights, which cut the figures like dark silhouettes, impregnate the scene with intensity. The charged atmosphere hints at storm and danger, a tempest from which the fragile boats have escaped. Between the dense twilight clouds, a full moon rises, its silvery rays glinting on the rough sea.
