This watercolor shows the folkloric and archetypal representation of a Spanish woman of the early twentieth century, embracing the avant-garde stylistic currents. The woman covers her head with a mantilla and wears a richly embroidered Manila shawl. She holds her hairstyle with a comb and holds a pleated fan in her right hand. The workmanship and colors are reminiscent of the paintings of Natalia Goncharova, a painter described by the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum as the most important Russian artist of the twentieth century.
