"Marco, from the Apennines to the Andes" is an anime series based on the story Marco included in the Italian novel Heart by Edmondo de Amicis. The series was originally broadcast in Japan in 1976, totaling 52 episodes. In Spain, where it achieved great fame, similar to that of Heidi, it was broadcast in 1977. Set at the end of the 19th century, it tells the story of Marco, a boy living in Genoa. The serious economic crisis in Italy forces his mother to emigrate to Argentina. But after some time, she stops writing, so Marco, accompanied by his monkey Amedio, decides to look for her and bring her back to Italy.
